This painting was inspired by a photograph I took at Armstrong Woods in California, USA. I was fascinated by the growth of moss and mushrooms on the trunk of the redwood tree, because the forest keeps moving forward despite hardships. I love the contrast between the intricacy of the moss and the loose background.
